Presidente Felipe Calderón Hinojosa speaks at Harvard University in a few hours. As a welcome gesture, the Mexican flag is flown outside University Hall. This is a standard welcome for the visit of any head of state.

Wow! That’s awesome. Were the white people up in arms and whining about a reconquista? 🙂

I don’t know what protesters there were outside. I arrived at the forum at 5, a whole hour-and-a-half before the function was to begin, and left long after it ended. I know there were protesters, but I never heard them.

I’m surprised that John Harvard’s visage didn’t turn pale. Or does he look depressed? Every time I pass by his statue in the yard, I have a hard time telling.
I had received an invitation to protest FeCal’s attendance at Harvard. It was a protest critical of the PAN’s conduct in the elections and his administration’s generally terrible policies in with respect to indigenous communities, political repression, and disastrous trade policies with the U.S. I didnt’ have a chance to make it; I was at a conference in Boston and getting sicker by the minute. But if you want to know more about what one of the protests was as an FYI, let me know.
