“Cielito lindo huasteco” by el Mariachi Vargas. My favorite interpretation of “Cielito lindo.” This video comes from a DVD following their concert in Japan sometime between 1996 and 1998 (based on the members; yes, I’m that geeky about mariachi!) After the jump, the lyrics of the song.

Cielito lindo huasteco
Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán

Ay, ay, ay, ay,
Canta y no llores,
Porque cantando se alegran,
Cielito lindo, los corazones.

De la Sierra Morena,
Cielito lindo, vienen bajando
Un par de ojitos negros,
Cielito lindo, de contrabando.

Ese lunar que tienes,
Cielito lindo, junto a la boca,
No se lo des a nadie,
Cielito lindo que a mi me toca.

De domingo a domingo
Te vengo a ver
¿Cúando será domingo,
Cielito lindo, para volver?Ay, ay, ay, ay, ay, yo bien quisiera

Saca tu butaquito, cielito lindo, vélo sacando
Que si tú tienes miedo, cielito lindo, yo estoy temblando
¡Aja! ¡Aja! ¡Aja que risa me da!
En ver, en ver, en ver a tu tirana falsedad.

  3. This song holds special meaning for me. Whenever we are out at restaurants or parties, my mom dedicates this song to me, and I dedicate this song to her. We have done it for years. When I was a young boy she always referred to me as Mi Cielito Lindo.
